It’s been my long-held dream to produce a range of furniture from design right through all aspects of manufacture and marketing. My goal is to make chairs of the highest possible quality - returning to an artisan level of production, using traditional skills combined with glorious modern textiles. This is my one-person protest against all the mass-produced cheap furniture on the market today which will probably end up in landfill long before its users do.
This chair is the realisation of that dream - the first product of the CURRAMORE CHAIR COMPANY.
CCC chairs are the result of my collaboration with a master framemaker who has produced this lightweight frame to my specifications, using a combination of sustainably produced Victorian Ash and NZ pine timbers.
All the upholstery work from the frame up is done in-house by me, to the highest of standards using only premium materials.
The cover fabrics on this chair are from Australian MOKUM TEXTILES and feature 3 designs from the just-released Catherine Martin collection called 'Majorelle'. (This collection was inspired by - and named for - the famous Yve Saint Laurent Garden in Marrakech).
The fabrics I've chosen for this chair are not only beautiful but they each have sumptuous ‘handle’ (the way a fabric feels to the touch). The Majorelle designs have been complemented with a check velvet in rich jade on the inside back which is offset with red buttons. This same velvet is available as one of 2 cushion covers which come with the chair - the other being Hamman, the small starry spot matching the arms and wings.
The seat cushion has also been custom-made, and includes high-density foams wrapped around a pocket-coil spring set - providing possibly the longest-lasting and most comfortable seat cushion on the Australian market. A scatter lumbar cushion is also included, trimmed with a fabulous wide embroidered ribbon from the Majorelle collection.
The end result of all this is an incredibly comfortable seating experience which it's possible to augment even further by the addition of the optional matching footstool (listed separately).
This chair is currently on display in our Jamberoo showroom - please contact us if you would like to arrange a test sit.
